Nice to have you here
You’ve probably arrived here from Twitter so thanks for taking the time to click the link. My name’s Emma and I live by the sea in Hove in the UK.
I like Twitter because it is simple and complex all at the same time. I have met some great people through it and found my way to some incredible things I may never have experienced thanks to those 140 little characters. If you fancy it you can follow me here. I tweet about all sorts of things - business, life, food, art, my dogs and other curiosities.
Business Consultancy
For a living I run social8 - a management consultancy based in Brighton. I help people get to grips with the internet, blogs, wikis and social networks in a way that helps them share knowledge through stories and conversations. My focus is on the behavioural challenges around adoption of social software. I mostly work inside the enterprise helping companies to get smarter by tapping into their tacit knowledge.
Goal Setting
I’m a Goal Mapping Practitioner with LIFT International - an accelerated learning, whole brain goal setting technique. I help facilitate change and use the LIFT philosophy to make it easier for people to get to grips with what they really want from their work and life.
Social Entrepreneurship
My business is based on Portland Road in the Poets Corner area of Hove where I also look after an innovative work space with the social enterprise Werkshop CIC. We provide ideas, space and support for freelancers and small businesses helping them to work and create great things together. Westwerks is always looking for new people to join our community - particularly if you have an interest in ethical businesses, sustainable food, nutrition and education.
Education and Sustainability
I’m a trustee of a charity, The Green Standards Trust - turning waste into wonder and wildlife. We refurbish and reuse office furniture and IT equipment destined for landfill in the UK and US and turn it into schools, education and health centres around the world. We work with a range of charities and individuals and have helped build over 150 schools across the world.
